Ok, we have a broad definition of 'family'. These are the non-human residents that share our home...

    Cerremis

    Name:Cerremis
Alias: Cute Thing, Little Miss, "Air Cerremis", Kerry's-mouse
    Breed: Black & White Mix
    Gender: Female (spayed)
    Born: October 1997
Cerremis was the runt of a litter born to a stray adopted by a friend. Her name is a conjunction of "Cerredwyn" and "Artemis", two moon-godesses of mythology. She got her moon-name from the white moon-shaped marking on her back as a kitten. As an adult, it more resembles the 'swish' logo of a certain tennis-shoe company. At 8 pounds fully-grown, she's still the smallest of cats, but don't let it fool you! She's the alpha of our little pride. She also seems to be part jaguar, as she loves to leap up to high places, and can almost get up onto a 6' shelf from a sitting position on the ground.

    Apollo

    Name: Apollo
    Alias: Curious George, Paulo
    Breed: Orange & White Tabby
    Gender: Male (neutered)
    Born: Spring 1999
Adopted when we discovered him, literally starving, in our apartment parking lot. He's now an otherwise-healthy and very curious fellow. Absolutely gentle, even when playing stalking and pouncing games he won't use his claws. He seems completely incapable of harming another living thing. He even lets our friends' toddlers play with him. He always wants to see what you're doing, even though he is a little shy and would rather not be picked up. His voice is absolutely musical when he 'talks'.

    Previous Pets

The kitties above are current residents, but over the years we've played host to many more, albeit temporarily. The previous occupants left with roommates or friends, to find happy homes elsewhere, we are happy to report!

    Loki

    Name:Loki
    Alias: Fuzzy Buddy, Hernia-cat
Breed: 1/2 chocolate Siamese, 1/2 black street cat
    Gender: Male (neutered)
    Born: 28 April 1995
    Died: 24 October 2005
Loki was adopted from a co-worker. His undercoat was chocolate brown, but you could hardly tell under his solid black top coat. At nearly 16 pounds, Loki was no lightweight, but overall was one of the sweetest cats I've ever known. He had proven capable of catching birds given the opportunity, but you'd never have suspected his athletic ability; he spent most of his days sleeping, and was even so lazy that he once dragged himself across the carpet with one paw rather than get up when he wanted to see what made an interesting noise! Loki developed cancer in his lungs, and passed the week before Halloween.

    Alex

    Name:Alexander the Great
    Alias: Alex, Zurr-kitty, Psycho-cat, Demon-cat
    Breed: Blue lynx-point Balinese
    Gender: Male (neutered)
    Born: Spring 1993
    Died: 17 November 2006
Alex was adopted from a veterinary hospital in Maryland in 1993, where he was going to be euthanized for being 'feral'. He was a handful, to be sure, but he mellowed nicely. The smartest cat I've ever met, he understood doorknobs, and was tall enough to operate them. He fooled the other cats to get what he wants, or trained them to help him! A proven mouser, this fluffy purebred had no compunction about going for a kill. He fought until the end, passing away after a drawn-out battle with mast cell tumors.
